witness examination

Witness Examination is the competition that will have you feeling the most like the classic suave, brief-case toting TV lawyer. Whether it be forcefully grilling an opposing witness or shouting “objection!” with indignation, WitEx is one of the most entertaining competitions to watch and exhilarating to compete in. Each competitor is paired with a witness presenting opposing accounts of a fact situation, you then have the opportunity to frst question your own witness and then cross examine the opposition.

The idea behind your questioning is to have a clear theory of the case which you lead your witness to support in examination-in-chief. In cross examination you construct a series of questions designed to trap the opposing witness into contracting themselves and support your version of events.

WitEx can be an intense exercise as you have only 90 minutes to prepare and it is the only law competition that you did without a teammate. The competition teaches you to be quick on your feet and keep cool under pressure.
